Groundbreaking Ceremony for new NanoSpeed R&D Facility

NanoSpeed Diagnostics Inc. will be moving into a new two storey 11,000 sqft R&D and manufacturing facility in Edmonton Research Park. Two factors played a key role for the site selection: Research Park is home to many technology companies and close to transportation networks, including close proximity to the airport.

The ground-breaking ceremony was held on April 12, 2021 and hosted by founders Dr. Seema Gupta and Dr. Rajan Gupta along with the team members.  NanoSpeed is grateful to the agencies/dignitaries who have played a significant role in NanoSpeed’s growth over the last decade. Their presence at the ceremony is highly appreciated; Justin Riemer, ADM for Western Economic Diversification Canada; George Bacioiu, Director NRC-IRAP; Ernest Siu, Regional Director NRC-IRAP; Branka Barl, ITA at NRC – IRAP; Ron Helmhold, CFO at Workers Compensation Board; Jason Ding, Director Life Sciences, Deloitte; Tim Murphy, Vice President, Alberta Innovates; Reg Joseph, CEO at Health City; Roland Maier from DynaLIFE Medical Labs, family and friends.

Former Federal Minister and MP Amerjeet Sohi, and Councillor Mike Nickel graced the occasion.

The new R&D facility is being built by PEMCO Construction Ltd. of Edmonton and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2021.  PEMCO was represented by Kevin Lapes, and his team, Manuel Ibasco, Jan Matuska and Jeff Meyerink.

NanoSpeed has grown organically at its current location. The new facility is a natural progression towards NanoSpeed’s position as a global competitor in Point-Of-Care Diagnostics market and meet the growing demand for the company’s current and pipeline products. The new facility will be an important milestone not only for additional space but also capturing additional market share in manufacturing medical devices.  NanoSpeed, incorporated in 2009, develops proprietary diagnostic/screening test kit platforms based on their Lateral Flow Immunoassay and Lab-on-a-Chip technologies. NanoSpeed is located at the Advanced Technology Centre at the Edmonton Research Park in Edmonton, Alberta.
